ST. MICHAEL’S GYM (Carmichael, CA): Nothing like a birthday party on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. All right … so we were inside, but I had a lot of fun with Josh and his friends from Sacramento Country Day School as we celebrated his 7th birthday. This party rolled out pretty smooth as we kicked things off with NOODLE MONSTER TAG. Then we played a great game of BIG BALL SOCCER. The Bengal Tigers beat the Great White Sharks two out of three games. Without hesitation, we had some cool scooter races. We mixed in some dancing (it’s never a party without some dancing) and finished the party off with DODGEBALL. The kids then headed outside for some snacks and birthday cake and like that … the party was in the books. The kids should sleep well tonight.

CROCKER RIVERSIDE ELEMENTARY (Sacramento, CA): I had so much fun hosting this event last year that I was more than happy to come back. The event had a different name, but the fun didn’t change. The SPRING JUBILEE is the school’s annual fundraiser where the entire school community sets foot onto campus to enjoy great food, a great auction, and some entertainment. And once again, the kids didn’t disappoint. These kids love music and we had four hours to cover a lot of ground. These events are always great because I don’t know who I’m going to run into … like Kris Hewitt. I was the DJ for her wedding with husband Paul back in 2007 (Click Here to view their photo gallery). I love those reunions. My thanks to the kids of Crocker Riverside. They make my job fun!

JESUIT HIGH SCHOOL GYM (Carmichael, CA): With my son Max graduating this June from St. Ignatius, I was happy to take care of my parent hours by offering my DJ/emcee services for the annual May Madness function held at Jesuit High School. This is a big fundraiser for the school and has turned into quite an event. The event is highlighted by two basketball games featuring a women’s and men’s game. The students are represented by the Varsity Basketball Teams while the adults are represented by faculty, staff, and parents. It makes for some great basketball action. The women’s game was won by the Varsity Squad 39-36 while the Boys Varsity Team was a 49-40 winner. There were some great highlights.

* Patty Lane’s squad was 13 minutes late while getting ready for their main entrance.
* The Varsity Girls squad pulled a Tebow on the teachers’ first two possessions.
* The Glee Club was outstanding during their halftime appearance.
* The tri-tip was off the charts good.
* Ms. Flores scored 10 points which earned her 3rd Grade class a ‘homework ticket’ (it was a big deal!)
* Sole (I think that was her name) from Extended Care hit a half-court shot which earned her priority drop-off for the rest of the school year.
* Special appearances from Penny Lane (Patty’s twin sister) and alumni Lake Lutes and Nick Hilton.
* Lutes scored 80% of the teachers’ points, including some highlight reel dunks.
* Hilton starred for the Varsity Team during the 3rd Quarter. Max Buzzard was reported as being giddy to be playing side-by-side with a St. Ignatius legend.
* Kudos to Gerry Lane, who spent the whole day at Jesuit running a track and field event, boys volleyball championship, and May Madness. He was there until the end.

MASON and RYANN’S BACKYARD (Sacramento, CA): I have done a lot of birthday parties over the years, but this one definitely stands out for special reasons. When dad Josh called me to host his twins’ birthday party, he explained that I would know exactly where the party was at. He was very right because the very home that Mason and Ryann live in is the same home that me and my family lived in for nine years. That’s a tough one to beat. So it was nice to literally come back to the old ‘stomping grounds.’ I give these kids a lot of credit. It was hot, but we whisked through almost two hours of fun.

We had a great game of NOODLE MONSTER TAG to kick things off. We had a HULA HOOP contest, which showcased a lot of the talent at the party. We did the SUPERMODEL RUNWAY in which the kids were a little shy at first, but then took off once we got going. We played HUMAN PINBALL with the big soccer ball. The BIG soccer ball is always a hit. And most importantly we danced! This party was half games, half dancing. What a great way to kick off the weekend!

ST. MICHAEL’S GYM (Carmichael, CA): I had to finish my crazy weekend in style. And none better than the Franc Brothers. It was Matthew’s turn to be in the spotlight as we celebrated his 4th birthday with family and friends. There were a lot of young ones at this party, so I had to vary my activities to fit the audience. I was very impressed with how well behaved everyone was. One activity that is a constant is NOODLE MONSTER TAG. The kids had a blast with that one. We then did some scooter activities that finished off with the SCOOTER TRAIN pulled by Mr. Buzzard. Admittedly, I was a little tired after that activity. We did some dancing and moving. My favorite part may have been SHOW ME YOUR MOVE where the kids show their move and everyone copies what they do. There were some funny moves showcased by the little ones. Outside we went for pizza and birthday cake. Great birthday. Happy Birthday Matthew!

MESA VERDE HIGH SCHOOL (Citrus Heights, CA): Are you ready for some DODGEBALL? Thanks to Aunt Mandy for providing the Mesa Verde gym. That was awesome. And there was a big fan available. All we needed was some activity and fun. This is my second birthday party with Ian. This group had a lot of energy as we kicked off the hour of fun with DODGEBALL TAG. And then it was onto DODGEBALL. Team Ian won the first match 2-1. In the second round, the boys took out the girls 2-0. And in the third round, the Adults took out the kids. That’s how fast it went. I loved the custom-made DODGEBALL shirts. Everyone had one. And I love the Ian custom dance that he displayed many times. Another great moment was rocking out to Thunderstruck.

COWAN ELEMENTARY GYM (Carmichael, CA): I’m thinking that this is our 3rd or 4th year together doing this event. We came up with a really good system that we started last year where the 4th-6th Graders came for the first hour and the K-3rd Graders came for the final hour. While there were not as many 4th-6th Graders, we maximized our time by having a lot of fun for the 60 minutes we had together. My highlight had to be SLAP SOCCER where the competition was fierce between the older kids and their moms. Once the big kids were finished, in came the K-3rd Grade group and the size of this group was much bigger which meant the program had to be a little different. My highlight during the second hour had to be the SCOOTER RACES. I have been including this activity with the last few events I have done. It’s always a big hit and provides a lot of smiles. The younger kids and their moms were great and very organized. It made for another successful Sports-O-Rama. Please enjoy the photos from tonight’s event.
