VIZCAYA PAVILION (Sacramento, CA): Beautiful day in Sacramento and a great day to have a Bar Mitzvah celebration. I introduce you to Ethan Polis. Ethan has the swag and was ready to have a good time with family and friends. The day started off light as people made their way into the celebration. The first order of business was to make sure everyone got to eat.

After everyone was fed, the fun began with a candle lighting ceremony. That followed with Ethan going up in the chair. I did have to urge him to have a little fun while he was up in the air. From there, we played games and danced for the time that we had remaining. It certainly went by fast. But as usual, it was fun!

PONY EXPRESS ELEMENTARY (Sacramento, CA): It was good to be back. Because of scheduling conflicts, I was not able to make the 2011 version of Family Night at Pony Express. I know now why I missed being there. The kids and their parents were great. The kids took over the dance floor as soon as they stepped in the door. It worked well because mom and dad were allowed to chill out from a long week. But it didn’t take long before everyone was on the floor. We even did some decade dances spanning the 50′s through the 90′s. We hit all the interactive dances like APACHE, CHA CHA SLIDE, the PEEL PEEL SONG, DOUGIE, CAT DADDY, and a host of others. We also had a dance off between the guys and gals (girls won!). Plenty of fun in a two-hour period. I look forward to doing it again in 2013!

SACRED HEART SCHOOL (Sacramento, CA): Another great tradition that I enjoy being a part of from year-to-year … the annual auction at Sacred Heart School. Good friend Megan Geary did a great job of chairing this event as this year the school mixed their crab feed with a dose of the auction. They had art pieces put together by each of the classes (seen below). Then each class donated an auction item in which people bought raffle tickets and placed them in the bag(s) of their choice. One of the big highlights may have been when the school’s bookkeeper won the jar of cash by having the right combination. That was pretty cool. The food was great (crab and clam chowder), the ambience was great inside the school’s brand new gym, and the Sacred Heart community has no problem dancing the night away.
