KID BDAY: ALLYN’S 6TH ‘BACKYARD’ BIRTHDAY

ALLYN’S BACKYARD: I am a big fan of the Kindergarten Class at St. Ignatius School. There are a host of characters with great personalities. And we all gathered together to celebrate Allyn’s 6th birthday. We celebrated in backyard style with a perfect patch of grass that included a great hillside that served very well during our exciting game of NOODLE MONSTER TAG. A lot of Allyn’s friends had experienced a Buzzardball birthday, but there were a couple of surprises. One being the breaking of the pinata that seemed to be going well until Coach Buzzard did a little too much up and down with the pinata, causing it to break off. All is well as the candy was spread out all over the place. My favorite game of the day had to be SLAP SOCCER and THE HUMAN PINBALL GAME. I give these kids a lot of credit for hanging tough with Coach Buzzard for a full two hours. The reward for the kid’s hard work? They got to swim in the pool!

BUZZARDBALL 2012: SUMMER IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER

May is here and that means we are just a couple weeks away from the start of the summer. Spaces are filling up for this year’s edition of Buzzardball as we come to you for the 17th year. We are excited to be at St. Michael’s for another summer where a lot of activity and fun gets accomplished in a week’s time. If you have any questions regarding the camp itself, don’t hesitate to contact me at 916-947-7464 or e-mail at scbuzzard@gmail.com.
In addition, the registration fee has been reduced to $175. The fee for BUZZARDBALL SUMMER CAMP has been at $200 for the past four years and based on the numerous activities that our children are involved in during the summer,  all families now have the opportunity to experience BUZZARDBALL. We have some big changes happening this summer that I’m excited to share with the kids who attend. Registration is very easy and you have a few options available to you regarding payment.

DJ/EMCEE: ST. ROSE SPRING CARNIVAL

ST. ROSE SCHOOL (Roseville, CA): It was nice to be back outside for the annual St. Rose Spring Carnival put on by the Parents Guild. Last year, we had rain and had to take the fun inside. Today it was a beautiful day as hundreds of people came out to enjoy the fun while raising money for the school. This was my third year as the host/emcee of this fun event. There was plenty to do and new this year was the 37-foot Log Jammer slide for the kids. Other new additions included pony rides and the Balloon Guy (Jeremy and Steve) who made over 500 creations in the time they were at the carnival. We had our annual Talent Show featuring St. Rose students. My job outside of that was to just play the tunes and make sure everyone was having a good time. My thanks to Lisa Chester and her crew for putting together another successful event!

BDAY: SISTERS KAYLA (11) and HAILEY (9)

DAVID URIBE PARK (Roseville, CA): The best thing about doing birthday parties is every now and then I get to introduce what I have been doing for over ten years to a brand new group of kids. In this case it was for 11-year-old Kayla and her 9-year old sister Hailey along with their friends. The weather was perfect for a Saturday afternoon. So away we went. After the big introduction, I had to give the girls a dose of NOODLE MONSTER TAG. We had some fun with SUPERMODEL RUNWAY. We then played a game of BIG BALL SLAP SOCCER which was won by Team Kayla. After a few dances that included the APACHE dance, CHA-CHA-SLIDE and the PEEL PEEL SONG, we played an exciting game of KICKBALL that appeared to have TEAM HAILEY ready to claim the title with a 10-6 lead. But TEAM KAYLA scored the game-winner on a homerun by Isabella and came away 11-10 winners. Our final game was DODGEBALL and before you know it … our time was up and it was time for birthday cake and presents. I really enjoyed this group of girls from Roseville. It’s a lot of fun to meet new people!

WEDDING: JASON AND ASHLEY DONNEL

WILLOW CREEK EVENTS (BROWNS VALLEY, CA): What an absolute gem of a venue that was selected by Jason and Ashley. For me, it started with Jordan and Ashley Abercrombie. Then last September, I was there for Steve and Veronica Rutter. Next up was Jason, Ashley and their young boy Aiden. I feel like part of the family. It was an absolute perfect day to celebrate this wedding. The weather was perfect. The ceremony was perfect as the attendant Mike again worked his magic. The introduction was great as the wedding party came into “Walk It Out” while the new couple strolled in to “Another One Bites the Dust.” The evening featured a great dinner, great toasts, a great photo opportunity with sparklers, a Smores Bar that was out of this world, and plenty of dancing to finish out the night.
