SESSION 7 (MINI): DAY TWO …

DAY TWO is off to a great start. PHOTO DAY is in the books and our first hour was loaded with activity highlighted by the normal version and the basketball version of NOODLE MONSTER TAG. Couple of reminders: Don’t forget to vote for your favorite HAGEN’S FREEZE FLAVOR. The winner will be served up on ALL-STAR FRIDAY at 11 a.m. Also, Wednesday is JERSEY DAY where the campers are invited to wear their favorite basketball jersey. No worries if you don’t have a jersey. I will have extras on hand to borrow for the day. Thank you for allowing your child to attend Buzzardball this week. It’s hitting me that another summer is slowly winding down.

SESSION 7 (MINI): DAY ONE DONE!

MONDAY: 24 CAMPERS — Great group of kids as we celebrate our third and final installment of the MINI session featuring PreKindergarten through 3rd Grade (we have two 3rd Grade siblings who are helping along their younger brothers this week). Great first day!

SESSION 6 (BK): BUZZARDBALL GRADUATES

BUZZARDBALL GRADUATES: Theo DeRosa, Max Buzzard, Ben Blevins, Theo Christopulos, Jacob Gerigk, Brandon Pollack, Hunter Hull, Sean Nelson, and Nico Scordakis.

MY THANKS to these young gentlemen. Some have been with me for a long time and a few came for just the first time. This group did a good job of making this year’s version of the BIG KIDS CAMP one to remember. Good luck to all of you as you get ready to venture to the next level. Hope to see you on the hardwood during the upcoming JR-NBA season this winter.

SESSION 6 (BK) — ASF: CAVS HOLD ON FOR TITLE

FRIDAY: CAVALIERS win Championship with 39-34 victory over the CLIPPERS. Leading 20-11 at halftime, the CAVS went on a big 14-2 run to open up a 36-14 advantage. The CLIPPERS made a valiant comeback as Brandon Pollack’s three-pointer started a 20-3 run that saw Zachary Gonzalez score 15 of his 16 points, including four three-pointers. Kellen Dobson (12 pts) and Max Buzzard (9 pts) led the CAVS in scoring.

KINGS won the CONSOLATION game defeating the MAVERICKS 32-29. Sean Nelson scored a game-high 16 points in the victory. David Barnett scored 15 points to lead the MAVERICKS.

SESSION 6: DJ DIRTY DAN RETURNS TO BUZZARDBALL

WHAT A DAY: It just wasn’t your normal ALL-STAR THURSDAY. After the CLIPPERS had claimed the title with their outstanding team performance, the BIG KIDS camp was treated to DJ DIRTY DAN. Dan Peterson is the older brother of Assistant Coaches Mitch and Tommy Peterson. Dan is currently a junior (senior?) at Sacramento State and works as a DJ at Layalina Lounge in Sacramento. Dan had some new mixes to share with the kids and even talked about what it would take to become a DJ. The special treat then came when he performed with PJ SIMAS who performed one of his many tracks you can find on pjsimas.com. I’m still letting it all soak in. But for now, enjoy this memory and watch for some video on facebook.
